Task force warns residents of scam texts

BOSSIER CITY, La - With more aspects of our daily lives moving online to our personal digital devices, the Bossier Financial Crimes Task Force is warning residents about text scams recently reported in Bossier Parish. The Task Force has received reports over the last two days of phishing attempts involving texts that appear to be from local financial institutions. Some of the bogus text messages appear to be from the recipientsâ bank and may even include some of the numbers from their bank card account. The fake text messages request that the card holder call a phone number and then may ask for the PIN to the bank card or other personal information such as a social security number.

Man shot on bridge

A 31-year-old Miami man was shot in the stomach at the Channel 5 Bridge and airlifted to a Miami hospital on Sunday evening. Detectives are still investigating the incident, but early reports indicate the shooter and the victim and friends â both are from Miami â and had been fishing together on the bridge, Monroe Countuy Sheriffâs Office spokesman Adam Linhardt said. At about 5:30 p.m., the victim decided to change his clothes slightly and jump from the woods in an effort to scare his friend who was walking back to a vehicle. The friend drew a 9mm handgun and shot the victim once in the stomach. Trauma Star landed on the bridge and flew the victim to Jackson South Medical Center, Linhardt said.

Anchorage police: Missing woman s body found in Mountain View

Print article The Anchorage Police Department s homicide unit is investigating the death of a woman found in the neighborhood of Mountain View on Wednesday morning. Police identified the woman as 54-year-old Irma Williams. Her family has been notified, police said. Williams was reported missing to police on Sept. 30. She was last seen by her family about two weeks earlier, police said. On Oct. 1, police asked for the public s help in locating Williams. According to a news release, she lived in the neighborhood and had been known to frequent three parks in the Mountain View area. Her family told police that Williams had never gone missing before, and they were concerned for her well-being.
